Pros
- •Effectively sealed a tiny leak around the faucet seal of a 65-gallon rain barrel without needing to empty it.
- •Highly sticky, providing good initial adhesion.
- •Successful in repairing window frame leaks and preventing water intrusion during heavy storms.
- •Performed well on a camper roof for sealing seams, holding up for over six months.
- •Effective at sealing a washing machine drain hose, maintaining its seal for several months.
- •Considered an essential tool in the toolbox, with versatility for various smaller applications.
- •Works well in warmer temperatures for most tasks when used properly.
Cons
- •The adhesive can be too thick and gummy, making it difficult to cut and manage.
- •Fails to adhere properly to certain surfaces and can slip around under pressure.
- •Loses stickiness upon contact with water, diminishing its usefulness for underwater repairs.
- •Melts in direct sunlight, causing it to leak and lose effectiveness over time.
- •Issues were noted with applications in colder conditions and on certain textured surfaces, affecting performance.
Bottom Line
Flex Tape can be a handy tool for sealing and repairs in certain conditions, especially for smaller, straightforward tasks and when used in warmer environments. However, its performance is inconsistent, struggling with adhesion under water, in cold weather, and on textured surfaces. If these are your primary needs, you might want to explore other products better suited for such environments. Ensure that you closely follow the application instructions for the best results, particularly paying attention to environmental factors.
